Redesign of the GRU Website – Bar & Live Escape Game
Introduction & Background :
The redesign of the GRU – Bar & Live Escape Game website is an exciting project. Located in the heart of Bordeaux, GRU is a horror-themed escape game that has quickly made a name for itself in the entertainment industry. In just one year, this young establishment garnered nine nominations and won three prestigious awards at the 2024 Nouvelle-Aquitaine Escape Games Awards:
- Best Brand
- Best Room
- Best Newcomer
With growing recognition, GRU needed a website that matched its ambitions and successes.
Description of request :
The primary goal of this project was to modernize and enhance the existing website to:
- Update and modernize the brand identity to reflect the quality of the experience offered.
- Showcase new services, particularly the privatization of their bar.
- Integrate an online booking page for the escape game rooms, directly on the website.
- Create a dedicated gift card page to boost additional sales.
- Provide a sleek and modern interface that aligns with user expectations.
- Improve comprehension and navigation for all visitors.
Direction :
To meet GRU’s needs, several key steps were undertaken:
Analysis of the Current Website:
- Content: Evaluation of text, images, and site structure.
- SEO: Analysis of natural search engine performance.
- UX: In-depth study of the user experience.
- Competition: Benchmarking similar escape games.
- Sector Analysis: Examination of practices from similar businesses in France.
Brand Guideline Updates:
- Selection of new, modern, and immersive typography.
- Definition of a coherent color palette aligned with GRU’s identity.
Subdomain Development:
- Development of the new site on a subdomain to keep the existing site active during the redesign.
Migration to WordPress:
- Installation and configuration of WordPress (migrating from Webflow).
Creation and Design of Pages:
- Design and development of new site pages, including:
- A dedicated bar page.
- An online booking page.
- A page for gift cards.
- Photo editing: Adjusting colors and brightness for optimal visual impact.
- Creation of graphic visuals to enhance the design.
Plugin Configuration:
- Installation of plugins for:
- Backup and maintenance.
- Security and performance optimization.
- SEO improvements.
Translation:
- Full translation of all pages into both English and French to ensure optimal accessibility for international clients.
Testing Phases:
- Verification of internal and external links (CTA buttons, social media, etc.).
- Responsive design testing on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
- Assessment of comprehension and accessibility.
- SEO performance analysis and optimization.
Migration and Launch:
- Migration of the site from the subdomain to the primary domain.
- Official launch of the redesigned website.
